Sunday trip in Trentino-Alto Adige, here, at 1.496 m above s.l. and between the Dolomites, a mountainous Group of the Eastern Alps between the regions of Veneto, Trentino and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, there’s a small lake, the Braies lake.
This small lake with emerald green water have one legend:
The valley of this lake was inhabited by a wild population guarding a guarded treasure in the surrounding mountains. For this people, gold was very precious, but it also made the people stronger. When the animal appeared in the valley, he was given a gift, an object made with this material. Given the abundance of gold, the raids began. To defend this precious source of life, the savages decided to hide gold in the springs of water. The same springs that fed the lake, giving it the bright color we can admire now.
